Foetus Found Dumped On The Streets Of Mochudi

Mochudi police station commander, superintendent Otsile Fani said they were not sure how old the foetus  was.  It was found wrapped in a plastic by a passerby who alerted the neighbours and they in turn reported the matter to the police.

“According to our informer, he saw a reddish plastic, when opening it he found the foetus.  Investigations on the matter are ongoing and we are yet to track down the person who committed this terrible thing,” Fani said.

He said the foetus being a boy was rushed to the hospital where upon arrival was confirmed dead by the doctors.

He said that the incident appeared fresh because despite having been wrapped in a plastic bag the foetus was not decomposed.

Fani was worried that despite their endless efforts to curb matters of this nature through public education, community outreach to mention but a few, some women still have the nerve of committing abortions or dumping their babies.

He pleaded for support from members of the public into leads to arrest the suspect. He said when knowing that someone was expecting and in an instance that their pregnancy disappeared without the newborn being spotted the matter should be reported to the police.

Fani swore that the information would be treated with the utmost confidentiality.  He also called on boyfriends or partners to come forth with information if they suddenly find out their girlfriends, who were expecting, cannot account for their disappeared pregnancy.

He also called on fathers to consider their partners during the pregnancy period to avoid such instances. 

“No matter the situation women should not abandon their children, despite it being illegal it is morally wrong.  When expecting and fatherless they should at least consider asking for assistance from social workers towards the upbringing of their kids,” Fani said. He, however, said this is the first such incident this year.
