July Murder Prime Suspects Remains Found

The prime suspect in July’s murder was her boyfriend, Mopati Tebejana, 28, who has been a wanted person ever since the November 6, 2017 incident. His remains were found hanging from a tree in the bush at Lephaleng lands on January 14, 2018. Tlokweng Police station commander, superintendent Robson Maleka confirmed receiving the report on January 14 from Thamaga police station.

“Yes it is true we have identified the prime suspect in July’s murder, her boyfriend. Some things suspected to be belonging to the deceased were discovered at the scene,” Maleka said.

He, however, said that even though his belongings were found at the scene, he could not confidently confirm that it was him, as they have taken his remains for DNA tests for verification.

“We will only be having answers after receiving the results. We have taken those bones to cross check if the DNA matches the one that was found in the condoms that were recovered inside the bag used to dump July in,” Maleka said.

The police had launched a massive manhunt and also issued a warrant of arrest for Tebejana as their prime suspect, as they had disclosed that he was allegedly the last to be seen with July.

Then, the police received the report from a passerby who was walking from his cattle post heading to Tlokweng when he saw a big bag dumped in the bush.  The police then also revealed that July’s lifeless body might have been at the spot three days before it was found.

July was discovered with her cell phone, wedding ring, spectacles, toiletry bag, ATM cards, identity card, her underwear and some of her clothes that were blood-soaked. The police also discovered 15 used male condoms and two unused female condoms.

There had been speculation that since 15 male used condoms were recovered, July might have been gang raped but the police are still not in a position to comment on that matter as they were yet to match evidence samples against Tebejana’s DNA.
