Butler will begin work at the Rustenburg based side on July 1, but was unveiled yesterday on a two year deal.

The Englishman told Mmegi Sport his intention is to finish in the top eight after the side could only manage a ninth place finish last season. He also hinted at the possibility of signing Botswana players.

'The targets will be revealed by the management but obviously (the intention is) to finish in the top eight, which they did not achieve last season. Obviously there are players in Botswana I highly regard, so may be (I will sign them),' Butler said.

He has already spoken highly of the facilities at Platinum Stars.

'They a nice training facility.'

Butler left the Botswana Football Association (BFA) after stinging criticism of his employers, whom he accused of sabotaging his project
