Dibotelo says goodbye

 

During his last official Opening of the Legal Year this morning, Dibotelo said as per the Constitution he would be handing the baton to his successor to build on the foundations laid.

“On April 30, 2018, some two months from now I shall also be passing the button of leadership of the judiciary. It has not always been smooth sailing as in any organisation and work environment there will be turbulences and storms which ought to be calmed,” he said.

Dibotelo who explained that his tenure was expanded after reaching retirement age last year October was for the purpose of completing proceedings that commenced before he reached the retirement age. 

He pointed out that with the curtain closing he was mindful and constrained from making any decisions of major policy departure that would compromise the incoming CJ.

Dibotelo who last year reconciled with his colleagues following the infamous judicial scandal of suspending four Judges who were opposed to his leadership style. He has worked for 13 years as a judge and seven years as the CJ.
