It will be Galaxy’s first adventure in Africa after the Jwaneng side won the Mascom Top 8 Cup last season.

Although untested at continental level, they have proven to be able opponents on the local front and they lie second behind leaders, Township Rollers on the BTC Premiership table.

Galaxy travelled in two groups, the first departing Sir Seretse Khama airport at 8am and the second, two hours later.

The team is expected to have a feel of the match venue later today or tomorrow morning ahead of the Friday clash.

Galaxy will expect a hostile reception, as most teams participating in Africa can attest.

The diamond miners will fancy their chances against the Little Canaries, who have dominated Mozambique’s topflight, the Mocambola. Matshidiso Moseki’s charges are fresh from a 1-1 draw against Township Rollers, which eliminated them from the Mascom Top 8.

It’s off-season in Mozambique and Costa do Sol has not played a competitive match since the end of the Mocambola season in October.

Costa do Sol play at the Estadio Costa do Sol, which has a capacity of 10,000, and it is just 500m from the beach.

It is Costa do Sol’s second appearance since the CAF Confederations Cup changed its name from Cup Winners Cup.

Their last participation was in 2010, where they were eliminated in the first round.
