BMD seven ignore hearing

Their main contention was that the disciplinary committee was selected recently to decide their matter while the committee could have been chosen after the elective congress.

The seven suspended members include the president Ndaba Gaolathe, his vice Wynter Mmolotsi, former youth president Phenyo Segokgo, women’s president Joyce Mothudi amongst three others.

“Of course, we did not attend the hearing. Whether we attend it or not, the disciplinary committee which was elected recently to listen to our case will take the side of Nehemiah Modubule and Gilbert Mangole.  “Our party constitution is very clear on when the disciplinary hearing should be conducted.

The committee was chosen after they suspended us and its agenda is simply to try to fire us from the party,” Segokgo said.  He said attending the disciplinary hearing would have been a way of legitimising their suspension. He said their focus now is on the congress, which is the motherbody of the party.

The BMD is divided into two groups, which are the Modubule/Mangole and Gaolathe/Mmolotsi factions.  The BMD is expected to hold its elective congress in Bobonong and that is where the party members’ voice will be heard.

The meetings that are held by the two teams have shown that the Gaolathe/Mmolotsi team has a following compared to the other team.  Both teams are touring the country in order to inform the members about what transpired in the party especially the national executive committee (NEC).

Last year, Gaolathe toured the country and informed party members that the NEC has collapsed and its members do not have the interest of the party but rather they prefer to be controlled by their teams or factions.
