Barolong Kgosi trial dates set

The case came briefly before Chief Magistrate, Mareledi Dipate for confirmation of trial dates on Friday.

The initial dates of July 27 and 28 were scrapped, but no further reasons were advanced for such.

Sixty-seven year-old Kgosi Mompati Marumoloa, is alleged to have on February 12, 2017 at Goodhope Kgotla hurled insults at his subordinates over allegations of backstabbing.

According to the charge sheet, Marumoloa uttered vulgar words towards his juniors accusing them of gossiping about him.

Marumoloa pleaded not guilty to the charges and has been abiding by the bail conditions set. He briefly raised concerns over the adjustments yesterday, saying the case is taking too long to complete.

“This case will trouble me, but it’s fine,” he said.

Dipate said the case was only registered in 2017, hence the accused should not complain.

“Your matter was only registered in 2017 and we don’t expect you to complain. Trial will be on October 5th,” he said.

Busang Manewe represents the accused while Lapologang Mbwe of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions represents the state.
