The game was characterised by dubious decisions from match officials and rowdy behaviour from the fans.

But on the pitch, it took only four minutes to have the fans on their feet as Katlego Koobake put in a telling cross into the box but Thato Ogopotse headed over the bar.

Gunners however took the lead in the 17th minute when skipper, Desire Bafana headed in Ofentse Mmipi’s cheeky free kick from close range.

Tshepo Borake got a dream debut for Magosi as he curled in a free kick to level matters in the 34th minute and the two sides went into half time tied at 1-1.

A minute into the second half, Pako Moloi squandered a chance when he was supposed to give Chiefs the lead. Mmoloki Kebalepile then gave Gunners the lead through a controversial goal.

The midfielder curled from outside the box into an empty net with keeper, Siamang Kgosipula down after collision with Kenanao Kgetholetsile which the match officials allowed play to go on.

The incident prompted  a section of Magosi supporters to bay for the referee’s blood citing unfairness. The situation was calmed by the security officers and the law enforcers at the stadium while Kgosipula was rushed to hospital and subsequently replaced by Neo Kenalemang.

Ofentse Mmipi added Gunners’ third in the 68th minute as headed home Francis Olaki’s cross to the near post. In the dying minutes of the game, Kebalepile nearly got a brace but his shot went over as Mapantsola walked home with three valuable points.

“We tried but other factors were beyond our control. We have seen the facts. The player was down and referee did not give a foul and from Gunners players where does fair play comes into play,” he said.  Gunners’ head coach Tumie Duicker was happy to collect the maximum points on the day.
