Man (24) arrested for defiling 14-year-old girl

Maphephu told Mmegi that on February 7, the unemployed young man got into a relationship with a 14-year-old girl, who is a form two student at Mosu Junior Secondary School.

The girl met with her 24-year-old boyfriend after she disappeared from her parents’ home.  She returned home after two days. 

“Upon interrogation her whereabouts she told her parents that she has been with her elder lover for the last two days and they reported the matter to us,” Maphephu said.

“We took the girl for some tests and the man was arrested and will appear before the magistrate soon. People in most parts of this jurisdiction are ignorant to the defilement law; they don’t see it as a problem that can put them behind bars for a long time.”
