Jealous lover claims stabbed victim 'cannot die'

Appearing for mention before Extension II Magistrate, Ntombizodwa Ncube, Letsholo, who was pleading for bail, allegedly stabbed his girlfriend nine times with a knife.  He told the court that the victim is recovering.

“My family has been visiting the mother of my children at the hospital and assured me that she is recuperating and cannot die.  I am pleading for bail because her life is no longer in danger,” Letsholo said.

Letsholo went on to say that his girlfriend has been having problems with her back before their fight hence could not be blamed for her back pains.

Magistrate Ncube cautioned him against his acts stating that issues of Gender Based Violence are a serious concern and should be treated so. 

“If you knew that she was sick and had a problem with her back all along, why did you assaulted her.  This court cannot allow you to stand here and try to justify your violent acts,” Ncube said.

Letsholo was further remanded until February 28, 2018.
