Alleged boyfriend murderer seeks bail

Mokone granted the woman leave to appeal in consideration of the substantive magistrate’s absence from the matter.

Nthabiseng Modise allegedly used a sharp instrument to stab her boyfriend, Gaboutlhwelwe Asele, below his stomach, during a dispute on May 26 in Pitsane West.

The incident took place after a night of clubbing when Modise grew livid after Asele received a text message on his mobile phone during the night.

The victim was certified dead on arrival at Goodhope Primary Hospital and he was later laid to rest in Pitsane village.

The prosecutor in the case, sub inspector Dumani Chakasala of Ramatlabama police station, said the investigations were still ongoing but most aspects of the investigations were complete.

“The docket will soon be forwarded to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for assessment of evidence and possible prosecution,“ he said.

Modise is in custody and her next mention will be on June 20.
