Local Artists Celebrate Mascom's 20 Years Through A Song

The artists; Han C of Sedi laka fame, Charma Gal, Brando, Bangu and Veezo View reflected the country’s mobile phone giant’s identity through the lyrics.

The performance was also unique because of the various genres infused into the song.  

The melody of the song was an indicator that it must have been hard to pull off a seemingly perfect ensemble like that. 

When he introduced the artists to the stage, Robbie Rob of Yarona FM compared Mascom to the local music industry.

He said the music industry started as a seed which has now blossomed.

“Mascom began as a small idea and today it is changing lives,” he said.

The audience got their festival experience when each of the artists performed their identity songs.

But it was Charma Gal who brought the house down. When she came on stage people got on their feet and rushed towards the stage as the former Culture Spears member performed Mosepele wa lorato popularly known as Hardrock.

Her fiercely independent approach to her music has amassed her a diverse fan base, no wonder people could not hold themselves in the red carpet event.

She performed her other popular songs like Sekuta and Jabu kemo mejemong and the fans continued to sing along to her songs.

Her beautiful voice and honest storytelling was enough to wrap up the night for many others who were there to celebrate with Mascom.

Another local songstress, Amantle Brown who was recently nominated for the African Music Industry (AMI) awards also graced the stage but this time around without her trademark gold and black hair.

She performed her latest single Sapelo and also displayed the artistic confidence that shines through in her captivating vocals.  

Her boyfriend Jujuboy then joined the Black mampatile singer for the performance of the collaborative Follo track.

During the performance, Amantle Brown stood there with a stern face as Jujuboy displayed his explicit dance moves. 

Other performers on the night included Puna Gabasiane and Nnunu Ramogotsi.
