DJ Merlon's Launch Party Lives Up To The Hype

The launch party that was hosted by Saturday Glam Nights in association with Monate Fela lived up to the hype and gave Batswana a chance to jam to Merlon’s new music following the release of his album in November 2017.

Born Sibusiso Mhlongo, Dj Merlon took to the stage amid ululation and whistling from the appreciative youthful and impressive crowd that had packed the Cigar Lounge.

He did not waste time, immediately taking control of the set and stage. He wowed the fans with his energetic performance throughout the show.

Although the 33-year-old Dj from Durban played songs from his latest offering such as Izimvula, Ithembeleni, Never again and Layla, the Kuze Kuse hitmaker mixed with some of the hits from his previous album which sent the crowd into frenzy.

DJ Merlon connected well with the crowd.

Pure Black is Merlon’s second album following the Original Copy in 2015, which was nominated for a South African Music Award (SAMA) in the Best Dance Album category, amongst other nominations.

The new album, in which DJ Merlon again features Mondli Ngcobo, has 10 songs. Ngcobo is a vocalist whom he worked with in the popular song Kuze Kuse.

Other Djs such as Easy B, Hapex Guru, Ms Daisy and Da S also came to the party, mesmerising the crowd one after another.

Ms Daisy got the love from the crowd when she started mixing some R&B and Hip Hop songs.

Despite the non-appearance by ATI, it was a good show overall. Efforts to reach the organisers to seek answers on why ATI did not perform at the show were unsuccessful.
