Three Oil Companies Acquire Sites In Lobatse International Transport Hub

The TKC forms the western portion of the trans-regional Coast-2-Coast Corridor stretching from Walvis Bay in Namibia through Lobatse to Maputo in Mozambique.

Asked why the LITH, the MD of one of the oil companies stated: “The TKC has great commercial potential as volumes along the TKC will build over time due to increasing intra-regional trade.

The ideal location to exploit the TKC opportunity is the LITH which is strategically located in Lobatse on the TKC at the cross-roads of the A1 and A2 highways 100 km closer to Johannesburg than Gaborone.

The LITH will become a hotspot for commercial and industrial activity and we wanted to be there at the beginning of its growth curve.”

Malebogo Kruger, the Mayor of Lobatse, expressed delight that the business community is finally seeing value in the inherent spatial economic comparative advantages of Lobatse soon to be enhanced at the community level by the Lobatse Regeneration Plan.

The LITH is a component of Cambridge Investment Ltd.’s (CIL) Lobatse Estates Urban Development project which has 2,000 hectares of EIA approved residential, commercial and industrial zoned freehold land within Lobatse Township earmarked for development.

“The investment in LITH by these oil companies is a positive indicator that Lobatse’s locational value proposition is being recognized.” stated Philip Fischer, Executive Chairman of CIL.

“We anticipate that other companies in transport, logistics, warehousing, distribution, manufacturing etc. who are finding the high cost and low availability of land in Gaborone is impeding their growth will consider locating in the LITH.”
