As one of the three resolutions taken at the AGM, the new committee has employed a task force of three to engage the supporters in a move aimed at changing the club’s name, logo, colours and slogan ahead of the new season.

The club secretary, Gift Keaitse said the task force will report back to the executive committee before the end of July. He said the name ECCO still links the club with their former parent sponsor, Botswana Meat Commission (BMC), and the link has negatively affected the club’s efforts to source sponsorship. BMC stopped sponsoring ECCO in 2013.

“ECCO is a brand name for BMC products and potential sponsors were dragging their feet and several have turned us down because of that link. By re-branding we want to free ourselves so that we can move forward, commercialise and find a suitable sponsor for the club,” he said.

“Our intentions are to have all the processes of re-branding done before the league starts. We have given the task team until the end of July to report back to the executive committee and then a way forward will be taken basing on their resolutions.”

In other two resolutions taken at the AGM, a committee of three is delegated to review the constitution of the club. Keaitse said the current constitution that the club is running with is outdated and holding the club back from commercialisation.

A five-member committee of the past executive committee members was also elected to act as advisors to the new committee and also help source the sponsors for the club. The advisory committee will be reporting to the new executive committee.

Keaitse said the new committee is inheriting a club that is deep in debt and they are hands on in trying to source sponsorship to remedy the situation before the season starts.

He said none of their squad members has shown any signs of exiting the club and they have not received any offers for their players.

He said they are meeting with the coach this week to map the way forward.

In the new committee the presidential position is left vacant and will be filled by the sponsor. The vice president is Moses Jackson.

Mothokomedi Gaetshitshe is the chairman, Stan Mababa (vice chairman), Gift Keaitse (secretary), Itumeleng Mafa (vice secretary), Kagiso Kgagamedi (treasurer), Bongani Thomola (team manager), Ofentse Mdabule (vice manager), Israel Ontiretse (welfare manager), Letty Hubona and Gerard Mahumba are the additional members.
