BOTESSA gets green light to host CUCSA games

This came after CUCSA revoked Angola’s right to host next year’s games due to their silence in response to hosting the games. The CUCSA committee then requested Botswana to replace Angola as hosts. In the beginning of April, BOTESSA committee requested their mother bodies to give them a go-ahead in hosting the games.

BOTESSA spokesperson, Duncan Segabo said they are happy with the positive response. He however said they will face a hard time in a limited period of time to prepare for the games. He said they are working on the budget and other things, which will be submitted to the BNSC.

“We are now facing a challenge to prove to CUCSA and our mother bodies that we are ready to host the games. The association will have to meet and establish a local organising committee that will make sure that the country hosts successful competitions,” Segabo said.

He said they will now embark on ensuring that the facilities to be used during the games are ready. “We have stopped the CUCSA committee which was to come to Botswana for inspection to give us time to prepare our facilities,” he said. Segabo said hosting the games will give them opportunity to compete in all categories and increase their chances of performing well.

For his part, BOTESSA president, Moffat Ramasotla said they will target an improvement of performance in ball games and win more categories as the hosting country.

“We are working on how to host successful games,” he added. He said they will appoint a sport active local organising committee from BNSC and the Ministry of Tertiary Education.

CUCSA members are Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
