School pots procurement hits a snag

Parliament yesterday learnt that the procurement process has for the moment been halted due to an appeal made by one of the bidders.

Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Slumber Tsogwane acknowledged that the pots have been idle and not functioning due to that appeal.

“The pots are not functioning as the procurement process for the supply of spares to maintain the pots has been interrupted by the one of the bidders’ appeal,” he explained.

However, the minister who was answering a question from Gabane- Mmankgodi MP, Pius Mokgware assured Parliament that catering for students has not been interrupted as schools are using industrial gas stoves to prepare meals.

He maintained that as soon as the appeal issue is addressed maintenance of the pots would be carried out.

The procurement process hit an obstacle after the supply and installation of the pots already cost the government over P1 million.
