Man impregnates juvenile stepdaughter

The alleged incident took place at the man’s homestead at the settlement where the mother and her daughter also of Nthane stay together.

The incident was allegedly committed last year and it came to light recently when it was discovered that the young girl is five months pregnant.

A woman who owns a tuck shop in the settlement made the discovery.

She had interrogated the young girl over the weekend during one of her routine buying visits at the tuckshop.

Following her discovery she alerted the girl’s mother.

The mother professed not realising her daughter’s condition until she had received the notification.

Following the discovery, on Monday the man turned himself to Mokubilo police where he conceded to have defiled his stepdaughter.

He was transferred to Letlhakane police station and is behind the bars until he appears before the Magistrate’s Court to answer to the alleged defilement charge.

Letlhakane police station commander superintendent Michael Maphephu said the accused is cooperating and investigations are expected to conclude soon.

“He will be brought before the Lethakane Magistrate’s Court to answer to the charges very soon,” Maphephu said.
