Kgalagadi North to receive 23 nurse staff houses

 

Speaking in Parliament yesterday, the Minister of Health and Wellness Dorcus Makgato said construction of the 23 nurse staff houses in the area was in the NDP 10 vote of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development but the project was delayed due to financial constrains.

She however, explained that funding was availed in 2015/16 and tender for construction of houses was floated in January 2016 with other packages and site hand over was delayed due to capacity constraints.

“The contractors have been handed over to sites except for Kang houses which will be re-tendered. An additional team from DBES was appointed to augment implementation capacity,” she said.

Six of the houses will be built in Hukuntsi beginning of this month and are due to be completed in five months time, while 10 houses were handed to contractors on between February 5 and 9, 2018.

is planned to start today (February 20, 2018) and envisaged to complete in September this year. Furthermore, seven houses in Kang were tendered for, evaluated and re-commended for re-tender.
