Petlo Literary Artists, Cherryapple host Creatives� Forum

Cherryapple co-founder, Neo Kebiditswe told Showbiz that the mandate of the Creatives’ Forum was to unify distinguished creative minds in Botswana and dissect the Creative Industry through a series of discussions, presentations, networking and drawing up of solutions. The inaugural Creatives’ Forum will be operating under the theme ‘Creative Collaborations: Working Together as Artists’.

“The Creatives’ Forum was conceptualised to firstly unify creatives of all disciplines; to establish underlying issues within the Creative Industry. This industry is currently a standalone entity, and artists conduct their businesses without stipulated regulations of a union or national body. The goods and services of the creative industry are vulnerable to exploitation such as underpricing, overpricing and no pay, due to unregulated business conditions, and few platforms to sell goods and services,” she said.

Kebiditswe added that the forum intended to bridge the gap amongst artists and encourage collaborative works, and sustainable working relationships from there on.

She said the Creatives’ Forum would be graced by two guest speakers, namely Solomon Monyame (Solly B) who is a musician, producer and founding chairperson for COSBOTS, and Philip Segola who is an artist, painter and chairman of the Creative Industries Sector Committee (HRDC).

The Creatives’ Forum calls all musicians, fashion designers, actors, dancers, photographers, visual artists, craftsmen, writers, poets, filmmakers, music producers, animators and many other creative intellects to attend that overdue but important opportunity.

Even though admission is free of charge, donations for the cost of the venue are welcome. The forum would commence at 8am and finish at 12pm. 

The co-host of the forum, Petlo Literary Artists, a trust led by acclaimed poet Barolong Seboni who is mandated to create and promote original literary works from Botswana’s literary artists.

The other co-host, Cherryapple, is a theatre and film events company that is owned by Kebiditswe and Kealeboga Mosekiemang.

It is committed to creating, managing and producing excellent theatre and film projects for all audiences, which incorporate cultural diversity, and explores relevant issues of our modern society.
