Mono Culture, an online reality show that focuses on the Botswana entertainment scene and lifestyle, is currently broadcasting on Facebook under the name Mono Culture. On the reality show Young Black interviews artists from different background touching on various issues ranging from their career and life. It has been broadcasting online for the past two weeks on a daily basis.

“We cover and document everything that has to do with the Botswana entertainment industry with an objective of helping document information about different artists, events and lifestyle,” said Young Black, host and producer of Mono Culture.

Apart from documenting purposes Young Black noted that Mono Culture aims to give artists a wide media platform citing that main stream media does not give artists enough time.

The online TV show has been airing everyday and produced 29 episodes.

Different figures such as Bangu, Ban T and Apollo D have been featured on the show.

Despite the culture of putting TV content online in Botswana still at it infancy, Young Black noted that this is actually the right time for them to have their show online.

“People spend most of their time on their phones on the internet. I know data bundles are not cheap but with time things will go according to the plan.”

With only two weeks of broadcasting the views statistics of Mono Culture are not bad as they range from 500 to 4,000 on different episodes.

“At the moment its still a non profit organisation. We want to put in work then approach sponsors with evidence that we are in did working after producing a number of episodes,” Young Black said.

The long-term vision of Mono Culture is to establish a TV station, which caters for the local entertainment industry.

Mono Culture joins the likes of What’s The Fuzz and Rea Online, other local online TV shows.
