PPADB probes fraudulent submission of documents

Speaking during the annual media capacity building workshop this week, PPADB senior legal officer Keneilwe Modise said that from the 15 cases, about eight matters were in relation to violation of provisions of the Code of Conduct of Contractor and other legislations as well as seven matters relating to fraudulent documents during contractor registration. 

“According to our 2017/2018 statistics, we have delisted one company, suspended three, written warning to one and not upheld about three complaints,” she said.

Modise said that contractors might be suspended or delisted by the board for non-compliance with the code of conduct or defaulting on the execution of contracts.

She said that the suspension is a sign that a bidder is ineligible to participate in tenders for a specific period while delisting them wipes the contractor out of the register to participate in future tenders.

Azraa and Asadullah Investments (Pty) Ltd, which have been suspended for a period of 30 months effective 31st August 31, 2017 to March 2020, failed to abide by the agreement made as they changed the supply on their own without informing the relevant authorities.

“They won a tender to supply cooking oil at the schools within Kweneng districts. There was a specific brand that they were suppose to deliver because it was put onto consideration that the health of the children must be a priority but they then decided to deliver another brand,” she said.

Discount Woodworks (Pty) Ltd that is also suspended for 30 months since August last year failed to deliver on the tender where they were expected to supply furniture. This forced the department to source out the furniture at an extra cost due to limited time.

According to Modise, 3Pin Solutions which has been delisted for 12 months effective December last year to December this year provided false information during contractor registration.
