The quartet of Molefe Mogatusi, Jeffery Molefe, Sihlule Mazilawa and George Arabang is said to have robbed Rollers’ Minkie Molatlhegi the P200,000, the sum of gate takings of the league game against Mochudi Centre Chiefs, a Samsung S7 phone worth P15,000 and a Mercedes Benz car valued at P100,000 at the Rollers offices located at the CA Sales compound.

The four were arrested on different occasions and the ticket booklets of the game involving Rollers and Chiefs were discovered while the police are yet to recover the money stolen.

They have since been charged with a single count of armed robbery each. The four were given bail earlier last month after they accused the police of time delaying tactics in completing the investigations.

They stated that they were forced to endure a tormenting time in prison while the police were dragging their feet in their investigations and arresting the fifth suspect.

Yesterday, appearing for the prosecution, Peter Simisani of the Botswana Police Services told the court that the investigations are yet to be completed while the fifth suspect is still on the run and believed to have fled to neighbouring South Africa. “Investigations are not yet complete. We are yet to arrest the fifth suspect in the matter,” Simisani briefly told the court.

A fortnight ago, the investigating officer, Elias Segokgo expressed confidence in arresting the suspect after receiving information that he had fled to South Africa.

He said upon questioning the suspect’s girlfriend early last month, she revealed that she received a phone call from the suspect using South African mobile numbers.

The suspect is believed to be in possession of the stolen money and materials that can be used as evidence in the case. The quartet will appear in court on August 14 for mention.
