Moswaanes Trio In Indefinite Suspension

In April this year the trio of Boago Mosarwane, Otsile Moses and Chidzani Mokwebe were given a 60-day suspension pending a disciplinary hearing after they allegedly assaulted one of the party activists. The suspension is now indefinite.

Late last week, Damien Thapa a member of the party disciplinary committee led the team, which was to conduct a hearing involving the three men.

The hearing was scheduled for Thursday afternoon, but the three men did not appear.

Instead of coming, the trio sent a letter from their attorney indicating that their hearing should be suspended pending the outcomes of their assault case.

Moswaane’s supporters were suspended after they assaulted BDP activist Otto Masogo at the party’s Francistown elective congress in March this year. Masogo would then open a case with the police.

A source closer to the events said that after seeing the contents of the letter from the three activists, the disciplinary committee gave the trio an indefinite suspension in order to afford them a chance complete their case at the police.

“Yes we have submitted our letter from our attorneys to the party but I cannot disclose its details nor the response we have received from the party because they are purely confidential,” Moses said yesterday.

Yesterday BDP secretary general Botsalo Ntuane confirmed the meeting, but refused to share details of what transpired.

“I can only share details of the outcomes of the hearing once those who we tasked with undertaking the disciplinary process have submitted a formal report to the party,” he said.

Masogo also confirmed the aborted hearing, but refused to share further details citing confidentiality reasons.

“ I am also waiting for the police to update me on the date and stage of my case since they indicated that they are still investigating,” he said.
