His last day in public office was Wednesday, after serving three months notice.

The self proclaimed President Ian Khama’s ally, Mabaila, is said to be preparing to contest Mogoditshane constituency BDP primary elections. Mabaila has been actively involved in community service through his Mabaila Foundation, which many said he used to enhance his image in the community.

Former MP for Mogoditshane, Patrick Masimolole once wrote a complaint letter to Khama that Mabaila is campaigning while being a public servant. Submissions of names for opposition held constituencies for those willing to contest for primaries will be conducted in July this year.

“It’s true I have resigned and I am now a BDP member. My foundation is not going to clash with my political life. It has its own office and there is no how I could use its money for campaigns,” Mabaila said. Mabaila said he has not yet taken decision on whether he would want to contest for primaries or not.

He said his intention is to establish his companies and to ensure that Mogoditshane is developed. He continued; “I want to serve people and to ensure the village that I am coming from is being developed. Government cannot do certain developments alone but as private companies we should also play a role in the community”.

Recently, Mabaila foundation spent P52,000 on graveyard cleaning and fencing at Mogoditshane. He also pledged that his foundation would pave the gravel road from Sefalana wholesale up to Molepolole road. The said road is estimated to cost over P1.5 million and the project is likely to start early this month.
