German govt to boost revival of vocational training

The vocational sector that has been struggling for years to provide integrated and advanced skills will receive the boost from the German government through collaborations.

Regional director for Sub-Saharan Africa and the Sahel, Georg Schmidt confirmed that they have agreed to help the Vocational Training Council to be able to put up with the changing demands of skills in different sectors.

“As a first time visitor to Botswana, I am impressed with the progress the country has made.  Most of the sectors are doing well and they can do much better with collaborations.  We managed to strike a deal to help with vocational education,” he said.

Schmidt explained that the collaboration will not be based on financial help but it is more on bringing knowledge and skills to the struggling training centres.

He noted that the collaboration has not only been identified in the education sector noting that the tourism sector has also seen cooperation between the two nations.

“The tourism sector will also benefit as the two partners have been working together to improve tourism equally,” he said.
