Man beats girlfriend to death

 

Modungwa is alleged to have, on April 22, 2017 at Metlojane village, beat Keneilwe Molebatsi to death following a misunderstanding. Details surrounding the case are that Modungwa allegedly beat the victim to death following a relationship-related misunderstanding.

The prosecutor in the case, sub-inspector Shadreck Naganeng of Goodhope Police Station told the court that the investigations into the case are still ongoing, but the state did not object to bail for the accused.

Dipate subsequently granted Modungwa bail on condition that he binds himself with P2,000, produces two sureties who will each bind themselves with P1,000, attend all scheduled court seatings and not to commit any crime whilst on bail.

The case will appear for mention on July 4 or in 14 days’ time in case the accused has not met the bail conditions.

Meanwhile, prosecutors have finalised their investigations in the matter in which a 27-year-old man of Morokwe farms in Lobatse faces trial for allegedly murdering his girlfriend. Basimane Ntlame allegedly killed his girlfriend, Kelebogile Motswakwa before burying her near Nnywane Dam in July 2016.

The incident is alleged to have taken place at Morokwe farm north of Lobatse on July 5. Motswakwa’s body was discovered several days after the incident following an intense search for her as a missing person.

Police said the accused reported the deceased as a missing person on July 5 and he was arrested on July 21.

Naganeng said the case is now only pending referral to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for analysis of evidence and possible prosecution.

“Investigations into the matter are complete and the case is only pending assessment of evidence and possible prosecution,” Naganeng said.

Giving brief remarks, the accused person told the court that he was still an employee at the farm and his children were still young.

The case will continue for mention on August 28, 2017.
