Murderous suspect claims self-defense

Oageng Moagi Letsholo, 40, who faces an offence of unlawfully wounding after stabbing his girlfriend, Kediemetse Sebopi with a knife on December 18, 2017 at Old Naledi in Gaborone, told the court that he was only defending himself.

Appearing before Extension II magistrate, Ntombizodwa Ncube, Letsholo told the court that the victim, in this case being Sebopi, deserved what happened to her.

Letsholo claims Sebopi wanted to kill him, but instead she was the one who ended up being hurt.

The incident occurred whilst Letsholo was on bail for another case of bodily harm against the same victim.

“I was given bail conditions not to come close to her or contact her, but instead she followed me from Mmatsetla village to attack me. She found me bathing, I was naked when she attacked me.  I couldn’t run outside the house naked but instead I fought back defending myself. I could be dead if I had not just stood there without defending myself.  But today you are denying me bail on claims that I could follow her at the hospital and finish her off.  Such claims are incorrect, I was attacked,” Letsholo said.

Contrary to his claims Mmegi has learnt that Letsholo stabbed Sebopi in front of his uncle and his uncle’s wife who were present at the scene while making effort to reconcile the duo following a break-up.
