Malefho retired from civil service by the end of February and he will be pursuing his interest of contesting for BDP primaries in Serowe South constituency.

Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi is the current Member of Parliament for the area.

Already those who want to contest for the area have started to solicit support from BDP members to cast votes for them come August.

One of the reasons why Malefho left public service early is to have enough time to contest for the parliamentary primary election.  Malefho will contest against other members who are popular in the area like Tebelelo Seretse, Fani Phuthego amongst others.

“It is true I will be joining the BDP and I do have interest to contest for it in Serowe South if its members could agree. Firstly I want to familiarise myself with its policies and constitution. I have spoken to my family and will be relocating to Serowe to start working with people on the ground. My aim is to contribute towards development at home. Serowe south needs to go to another level in terms of representation, the constituency cannot keep on recycling people,” Malefho said.

The current challenges that the constituency is facing need youthful residents who can come up with strategies to solve problems.

He added: “Serowe south has a problem of high unemployment rate, (lack of) infrastructure, poor school results and poverty. Development is lacking in our village as compared to others”.
