Omunye Hitmakers Definite Crowd Pullers

Distruction Boyz met expectations at the Togetherness Celebrations Tour held at the Stanbic Bank Molapo Piazza on Saturday.

The dynamic duo of Thobani ‘Que’ Mgobhozi and Zipho ‘Goldmax’ Mthembu got on stage just past midnight as the youthful crowd had waited patiently for their third appearance in the country in just a month.

Having made a lot of airplay with their debut album Gqom Is The Future last year, the duo did not disappoint on the night.

They dished out tracks like, iScathulo, Madness, Midnight Starring, which features upcoming singer, Tipcee.

They also played their new song Phakisa, which they have collaborated with Dladla Mlungisi and DJ Tira that dropped last Friday.

But it was the song of year Omunye that brought the house down in the group’s hour set.

Omunye proved to still be a favourite amongst revellers who surely brought their dancing shoes that night.

The duo had to bring their A-game as the local acts had already set the bar quite high with their impressive performances. The country’s hottest artist at the moment, ATI, was a marvel to watch on the night.

He began his set with the song, Poelo Morago and continued to dish songs from his latest offering. But it was the BOMU awards and YAMAs song of the year ‘Khiring Khiring Khorong Khorong’ that rocked the crowd.

The leader of the new school rap, Ban T kept, the crowd on its toes with an energetic performance.

Accompanied by three dancers, the young rapper proved to be a crowd favourite and at one point he was pulled down from the stage as attendants sang along to his breakthrough track, Naomi.

Motlha of Mma Motse fame also dished out a soothing performance with his Afro soul style. The former My Star contestant was the women’s favourite on the night.

Before Motlha, Team Distant put up a sterling performance while Benny T also proved why he is regarded as one of the best house producers in the country with his 45-minute set.
