Mosienyane joined BB in 2013 and his term ends next month.

During his speech, he acknowledged the good working relationship he had with the business community while he also took time to reflect on his achievements.

He said under his leadership BB transformed into an implementing agency for the Private Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

Through the programme, BB was restructured and the programme also implored to boost small medium and macro enterprises (SMMEs).

He said new services such as The Chamber Trust Seal; PROWESS Training and the Private Business Growth Awards with Grant Thornton were introduced.

He said Chamber Trust Seal is an international chamber federation that opens opportunities for local businesses by proving authenticity and existence.

“Chamber Trust Seal provides a traceable and local presence for a company through verification by local, regional and national chambers of commerce.

“The Private Business Growth Awards recognise the firms that contribute to the economic diversification drive and these services help the enterprises meet the challenges presented by today’s competitive business environment,” he said.

The president said he will remain open for consultation and available for BB forums.

The outgoing president also emphasised on the importance of the Northern Trade Fair and the opportunity it gives to the business community. He said the Fair is fundamental in the growth of businesses, which in turn drives the economy of the country.

He said the success of businesses, large or small is critical in a developing economy like Botswana as an engine of economic growth and therefore they need timely checks for performance improvement and growth.

“The Fair represents an opportunity to enhance brand and product visibility, promote new and existing products, generate leads and drive sales,” he said.

“The contribution of businesses towards economic growth, job creation and social development is highly valued; hence the continued quest for performance improvement of business by both the private and public sector.”
