MC Maswe told Showbiz in an interview that he wants to smoke the peace pipe with Pitse. He said he wants Pitse to forgive him because they need each other as industry professionals. “I tried to talk to Loungo but I couldn’t reach him,” he said. The Blumara singer who posted an apology on Facebook said this trend has led to people insulting him on the social network. “I am being insulted by people who are not even my fans,” he said.

He said Batswana should forgive rather than dwelling on petty issues. “MC Maswe is a brand and I am just a human being just like everyone so I am bound to make mistakes,” he said. The Francistown based artist said it is not like he committed an eternal sin therefore people should stop spreading lies about him.

“My only mistake was addressing that issue in the wrong platform, I shouldn’t have argued in public,” he highlighted. MC Maswe said emotions took over him during the debacle and he does not even condone his own behaviour. “It was painful because I couldn’t even perform,” he said.

When contacted for comment Pitse said he did not want to talk about anything that happened in Francistown over the weekend. King B, as he is also known, said his publicity team will release a statement in response to the issue.

Meanwhile Botswana Musicians Union (BOMU) has released a press release distancing itself from MC Maswe. “The Botswana Musicians Union would like to take this opportunity to inform the public that we do not condone the behaviour that was displayed by our North East District chairperson Mr Thapelo ‘MC Maswe’ Maleka. Mr Maleka did not act like a leader who is obliged and mandated to protect his fellow industry players,” read the press release.

In addition BOMU has since cautioned MC Maswe with regard to what transpired at Toropo Ya Muka festival. The association also promised to follow the matter and deal with it accordingly. “We sincerely apologise to Loungo and urge him to continue serving this industry tirelessly as he always does.”

The coordinator of Toropo Ya Muka festival also distanced himself and his brand from MC Maswe’s remarks. “As the event coordinator of Toropo Ya Muka, I sincerely apologise to Loungo and our clients for the unfortunate situation that happened last night between MC Maswe and Loungo at the event. We do not condone such behaviour and distance ourselves from music politics as we support 100% local music,” read DJ Colastraw’s statement on Facebook.
