Lawyer sues former client over unpaid fees

Mooketsi is claiming payment of P235,326.88 with an interest rate of 10% per annum, being the total amount of legal fees for professional legal services rendered to her former client William Rampete.

She also wants the defendant to pay the costs of the suit.

In the court papers that Mmegi is in possession of, the plaintiff states that the action is accrued from the fact that it was a tacit term of the agreed the defendant would deposit sufficient funds with the plaintiff to cover professional legal services, which the plaintiff would incur in the course of rendering such legal services to the defendant.

It is stated that upon rendering those services as agreed, she incurred the demanded amount.

“Despite lawful and reasonable demand, the defendant has failed, neglected and/or refused to pay the plaintiff the afore-stated amount of P235,326.88,” she said.

Recently, Mmegi sister publication carried another story in which Mooketsi had instituted a suit against her former client, Mosetsanagape Mosienyane claiming over P37,000 unpaid legal fees.

She lost the case with costs and the court lambasted her behaviour and attitude.

The matter was set down for hearing for Roll Call on March 2, 2018 before Justice Modiri Letsididi of the Lobatse High Court.
