Rollers slash CAF tie tickets to P10

Rollers, under an Operation dubbed #PackTheStadium, want fans to come in large numbers for a season defining encounter.

Popa have been in defiant mode in CAF’s club flagship competition, after beating highly-rated Al Merreikh of Sudan in the first round. On Tuesday, they moved several gears up to dispatch Young Africa 2-1 at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium, to register their first ever continental club competition away victory.

Now with history just 90 minutes away, Rollers have lowered the ticket price for the March 17 clash at the National Stadium.

If they prevail over ‘Yanga’, Rollers will become the first ever Botswana side to reach the group stages of Africa’s richest club competition.

“It is the first time to sell P10 tickets. We want Batswana to come in large numbers and fill the stadium,” Rollers spokesperson, Bafana Pheto said.

The southern stands, at the University of Botswana end, will cost just P10, while at the opposite northern end, the fee is still an affordable P20.

A seat at the famous Panda end will cost P40 while grand stands are P60.

Pheto attributed his team’s brilliant run in the CAF competition, to the good pre-season Rollers had.

“People are looking at the results now, but it started during pre-season. We went to South Africa and even invited Kaizer Chiefs here. We started in June, when the season had finished in May,” Pheto said.

Rollers who have been brutally dominant this season, bagging the Mascom Top 8 cup, are joint top in the BTC Premiership and have had a storming start in the Champions League.

Reaching the Champions League group stages carries handsome rewards with at least P550,000 guaranteed. The winners receive P25million, revised upwards from P1.5million two seasons ago. The Botswana Football Association (BFA) will receive five percent equivalent of whatever prize money Rollers receive.
