Moswaane goes for trial

The state alleges he with intent to defraud, obtained P39, 000 from Thabo Joel under the pretext that he was selling a number plate machine to Joel while knowing the same to be false on June 28, 2015 at Block 1.

His brushes with the law started after he was funded by the then Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture (MYSC) to start a number plate printing business.

Letlhogonolo, 25, is the nephew of the MP for Francistown West Ignatius Moswaane who is well known for abhorring crime in all its manifestations. 

The senior Moswaane has on several occasions criticised criminal elements at different forums even calling drug peddlers who sell dagga to students witches who don’t deserve to live. 

On Tuesday when Letlhogonolo appeared in court for status report, prosecutor Moffat Dick from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) who was holding brief for his colleague Gasemotho Pitlagano told the court that the matter was pending without trial dates.

However, Magistrate Cele Lebakeng informed Dick that it was impossible to set trial dates in the matter since the case has been allocated to the incoming chief magistrate who is yet to report for duty at his new work station.

Lebakeng then proposed that the matter be set for another mention on May 29 by which time it is expected that the incoming chief magistrate would have resumed duty here.

The current chief magistrate Thebeetsile Mulalu, who was recently promoted to the position, has reportedly being transferred to Maun.
