“Henna takes patience and since it’s my passion, I always invest time in creating these beautiful designs,” she said. She encouraged artists to support each other so that they can grow. She added that she exhibits her work mostly at Chillstep Sundays. Models paraded around showcasing different designs that Gleeson and her co-worker  and cousin, Tamiya Gleeson had created. The designs featured African prints, flowers and symbols. They used different colours of henna as well as glitters to enhance the decorations. Young artists, bloggers, fashion designers and models attended the launch. Nandi awarded certificates of appreciation to the beautiful models that took part.

Her mother, Thabologo Nageng revealed that she used to be averse to Nandi’s passion for art.

“I did not want Nandi to indulge in art as I wanted her to finish her studies first,” she said. However, as time went on, she changed her mind because Nandi made her proud, especially that their family is blessed with artists. From a Christian perspective, she added that God himself was an artist as he created the universe and everything in it as well as Adam and Eve.

In the audience was Kaone Moremong of House of Kay who was excited to host the launch, and fascinated by the fact that the audience was made up of young artists. As a fashion designer, she encouraged the audience to follow their passion, nurture it and embrace it.

“I studied accounts because of parental pressure. I hated accounts because I had passion for fashion,” she said. She added that she did not give up on her passion. She started small and as time went on, she managed to develop a company that is thriving up to today.
