The Blues played to a goalless draw against Young Africans of Tanzania in the second leg, but advanced to the prestigious stage of competition on a 2-1 aggregate score. Speaking to journalists after the weekend’s game, Kavazovic said his side has minimal chance of winning the CAF title.  He said his primary objective was to advance to the group stages while making Rollers one of the football giants of Africa.

“I think we have around 0.5% chance that Township Rollers could win the CAF league.  This is a realistic prediction because looking at the other teams in the competition. We do not have that kind of budget and we do not have the best facilities and the support.”

“Honestly this is something that I have committed my life to. I put my family and everything on the side and I have not seen my wife for the past eight months and I had expected this. It is not a surprise or anything like that. We expected this.  When they speak about Al Merriekh, Young Africans, Al Ahly, Kaizer Chiefs and other African giants, they will (also) speak about us as African giants.  The aim is to make this team one of the biggest clubs in Africa and we are on the right course. We have two months to prepare for the group stages,” Kavazovic said.

Popa broke the seven-year drought of reaching the second round of the competition after edging past Sudanese side, Al Merriekh 4-2 on aggregate. The team went to record their first away victory in the competition with a 2-1 win over Young Africans in the first leg played in Tanzania in just more than a week ago.

The Blues would learn their opponents on Wednesday as the group stages draw would be conducted in Cairo, Egypt.
