New Trust Fund Donates To Marina Children's Ward

Lebogang Charlotte Motshidisi, 28, extended a hand of compassion to children diagnosed with different ailments through her newly set up trust fund, the Ame Motshidisi Trust Fund, named after her son.
The baskets included fruits, snacks, bathing soap, toilet paper and other necessities.
Motshidisi told The Monitor that the idea to assist the children admitted at Princess Marina Hospital came about when her two-year-old son was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and was admitted at the hospital.
Seeing first-hand the illnesses the children were battling against while her son was being cared for, Motshidisi decided to set up a trust fund that would donate wash and body baskets and snacks to make their stay in the hospital a better one.
“It broke my heart to see them when I went for his treatment and chemotherapy following surgeries. I saw how they were suffering while there. There was shortage of toiletry and snacks so I thought I would come up with a plan to assist,” she said. Motshidisi said she would donate to the children’s ward on a weekly basis. She said that her hampers cater for 100 children.
She said although her son has been recovering well, she felt the need to assist others, some of which travel long distances to Johannesburg, South Africa on medical referrals. She appealed to members of the community to help with any form of assistance in order to contribute in bettering the lives of the children.
“On this one, I was assisted by Vee Mampeezy who bought the baskets for the children. My plan is to do it weekly so I would obviously need more people to come on board and assist me. I decided I am not going to donate just to the ward where my son was admitted at, but all children’s wards at the hospital so I need more support,” she added.
Moreover, Motshidisi stated that although the Ame Motshidisi Trust Fund is set up as a small charity, which aims to offer help and support to children, who receive care from Princess Marina Hospital, she would also expand to assist in any way parents whose children have been admitted.
