Speaking during the launch of partnership, sponsorships and the school engagement programme last week Friday, Tshireletso said she is extremely proud and humbled by all the NWYC 2017 partners and sponsors for having heeded their call for partnership.
“The support that our partners has given is beyond measure and we truly appreciate their commitment in supporting sports at large. This is a sustainable investment that your businesses will be greatly rewarded for making the games to be world class,” she said.
Tshireletso said sponsorship make sport a sector that has the potential to contribute to the economy of Botswana and promote unity in the country.
The NWYC 2017 is a catalyst towards producing more global competitive sportspersons, she said. Other potential sponsors were urged to join the fray to ensure the success of the games.
“I also implore the general public to embrace these NWYC 2017 games to contribute in any way possible and most importantly, purchase tickets to attend the games,” Tshireletso said. She said all eyes will be on Botswana, therefore it is time to join hands and show the world what the country is made of.
Meanwhile, the school engagement programme means the local participating schools will be supporting a particular country during and after the matches. The initiative is to give other countries support during the matches and to brand Botswana to those countries.
“As the assistant minister of Local Government, it has brought me great joy to learn about the school engagement initiative. This will be undertaken to give our young girls exposure to netball and in the process to get them inspired by international players,” Tshireletso said. She added that through the school engagement programme, the students will learn about their chosen participating countries and their respective teams.
NWYC Local Organising Committee general manager, Tebogo Kesupile said they always welcome any kind of support from everyone who wishes to partner with them.
She added that they are also thankful to sponsors who have injected either cash or resources for the success of the games.
