Your vote was against the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) led Government corruption and mismanagement.

Our gratitude goes to the entire campaign team led by the councillors, BNF and UDC Secretariat for the sterling job they did. Committed UDC activists all over Botswana moved to Tlokweng to conduct the house to house campaigns and carry out other party strategies.

This is despite the BDP’s dirty tactics such as the delay in the release of the writ of elections, buying voters and abusing national resources.

The Campaign Manager, the Deputy Mayor of Gaborone, Cde Kagiso Tshekega did a splendid job as he coordinated all the events and handed over the ultimate prize, Cde Kenneth Masego Segokgo, as assigned.

The win further confirms that Batswana want change of government, especially after the ruling party lost their two council seats early this year to UDC (Tsabong North and Boikago/Madiba Ward in Palapye).

Currently the BDP is ruling this country with a 47% vote from the 2014 general elections while the UDC got the 53% popular vote. But due to a faulty and poor electoral system, the BDP is ruling against the wishes of Batswana.

We also thank Batswana in general, including workers for their generous support in many ways. We survived the marathon campaign due to their personal resources, moral and spiritual support. The workers’ sacrifice to this cause was priceless. We further invite you once more to continue the journey with UDC to 2019.

The BDP led Government has failed Batswana in several ways: thousands of unemployed youths,  corruption and mismanagement; the poor state of the education system, desperate policies (eg; health), undermining the rule of law and  poor labour relations, among many others.

We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to the various sponsors who helped to sustain the campaign. Thank you for sponsoring and defending democracy and we call for more support as we move to 2019.

The various media houses also played a significant role in helping us sell the UDC candidate. Since our first media release launching the profile of the UDC candidate in early January, the media support has been commendable. We believe in the freedom of the press hence the availability of our candidate all the time.

We specifically applaud the bold Mmegi commentary on Friday 12th May endorsing the UDC candidate. Their grounds for the support are what UDC is still preaching about.

We call upon other media houses and civil society organisations to join and condemn the poor governance Batswana are subjected to by the BDP led government.

Thank you all! Viva UDC viva!
