The Botswana Football Association (BFA) was making frantic efforts to process the permits after the initial papers expired on March 31.

A source said the association had failed to act early to put in an application for an extension, and now the coach is in danger of remaining behind when the Zebras fly out next week for the friendly scheduled for June 4 in the North African country.

Butler, who is on a three months short-term contract, has already named a 20-member team for the Morocco trip. But he might not be on the bench if the matter is not speedily resolved.

“There has been no contract drawn up which is supposed to be submitted to the labour and immigration departments for renewal.

But that was not done, and only now there have been efforts but there could be no assistance without the proper papers in place,” a source told Mmegi Sport yesterday.

Butler refused to comment about his permit situation only saying he is focused on preparing the team for the friendly match.

The Zebras were on Tuesday evening drawn to face Zambia in the COSAFA Cup quarter final in July, while the national side also faces Mauritania on June 11 in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations opening qualifier.

BFA public relations officer, Tumo Mpatane said all was in order and the coach has a contract until the end of June.

“All is in order. He has a contract until June 30, he will finalise before then,” Mpatane said.
