Meat festival to restore Thamaga�s good image

The inaugural Meat Festival will feature a variety of meat dishes including mokwetjepe, which is very popular amongst Batswana

Meat lovers from all over will assemble at Thamaga and get a chance to chow down the meat. A juicy lineup of artists lead by Ditiro Leero, Tumza, Jujuvine and Rittah will perform on the day to get people’s taste buds enticed. 

While people will be able to arouse their taste buds one of the organisers of the Meat Festival Oteng Basupang said the main reason for the event is to make good deeds in Thamaga. 

“We want to bring back our good reputation, we want people to know that they are free to come to Thamaga because everything is now under control,” he said.

Basupang said the Meat Festival would encourage people as far as Gaborone to come to Thamaga and go as they please without the fear of Matsetsenkane. He added that they want the event to become annual.

“Artists who are performing at the event are already marketing the event, we encourage people from the surrounding villages to come,” he said.

Basupang said in the morning they would serve dishes such as mokwetjepe, serobe and ditlhogo while braai meat will be served in the afternoon. “This is a family fun event,” he highlighted.

So while people will be listening to singers performing on stage, others will eat their way through mountains of meat and extra delicious foods prepared on the day. The single ticket is sold at P100 while the double ticket is P150.
