The 22, 000 square metres mall will house 52 shops and has seven office spaces. Project manager Anthony Sekgweng confirmed the new developments. He said about 20 tenants are already in possesion of their keys.

Sekgweng said the mall underwent preliminary inspection last week and it passed. The final inspection, he said, will be carried out this week before the contractor hands over to Khumo Properties who will manage the mall.

“We have been doing a partial handover during the final stages of construction that is why we have other shops ready to resume business,” he said.

“However, the entire project is now complete. It has passed the preliminary inspection. For appreciation we have invited all stakeholders to participate in the final lap of inspection of the mall.”

He said the little works left would be completed when the mall is operational and will not disturb business. Sekgweng said grand opening is set for end of April.

“We had delays caused by the recent downpours but we are ready to go. The chief tenant has completed shelving and kitchen fixes. They will resume stocking shortly and they confirmed they will open next month.”

On a site visit Mmegi team found shelving on a few shops are completed. Fire alarms were being tested, and floors were being cleaned. The Orange shop is set and ready for opening. BTC shop has also completed setting up.

Sitting arrangement, kitchen and fridges are in place at MAXI’s and the manager Thato Gomolemo confirmed they would be among the first tenants to open.

“We are expecting to start operating very soon. Our shop is complete, everything is ready save for stock arrival, which we also expect very soon and we will be among the first tenants to open,” she said.

Barclays Bank was announced as the new tenant to have recently come on board at the mall. Amongst other tenants expected are a group of South African retailers, such as Forschini Group and Pepkor Retail Properties, and BAHUMI.
