Man accused of hiring hitmen to kill ex-wife gets bail

Legwale 43 was let out on several conditions after a hearing inside the court chamber before Judge Tshepo Motswagole.

He was charged with conspiracy to commit murder of his sister-in-law, Thato Meswele, 35, in 2015. Also charged for the murder are Hamadi Nkhuha (47) and Zwichanaka Davie, who is still at large.

Legwale allegedly hired Nkhuha and Davie to kill his ex-wife Dimpho Meswele but instead they accidentally killed her sister (Thato).

Motswagole granted Legwale bail despite state prosecutor, Mabedi Ramontsho arguing that witnesses on the case as well as the ex-wife are living in a state of paramount fear for their lives, believing that if can be granted bail he might finish his mission of removing them on earth.

Legwale was granted bail on conditions to pay the sum of P2, 000 and provide two sureties to bind themselves with the same amount. He was also ordered not to visit Oodi village, not even to come near Dimpho or her work place.
