Paul on the verge of rare feat

Paul took Sharps Shooting Stars to the BTC Premiership before he left the club in acrimonious circumstances a few games into the season.

He joined Notwane two months ago and has all but shepherded the former Premier League side back to top flight football. This means inside two seasons, Paul has taken two sides from the First Division to the Premiership.

However, it remains to be seen if Notwane will retain the former Zebras assistant coach, who said he is keen to stay on.

'I am very happy (that we have made it). I am proud of myself, it was not easy. I am very lucky and I had the support of my family.

'It will depend on the offer (regarding staying) and the leadership of Notwane. The agreement was to finish the job at hand,' Paul said this week.

He said the club had shown interest in retaining his services ahead of what should be a more demanding task at top level, where Notwane were ejected four seasons ago.

'The team is very much interested in keeping me, and with the right offer, I don't see any problem continuing with the team.'

Notwane made a brisk start to the season and went for 10 games unbeaten before rookies, Broadhurst United burst their bubble.

Unconvincing results followed that saw the side slide to third, but a powerful run in the last two months has seen Sechaba reclaim their place at the top, leaving Mogoditshane Fighters and Prisons XI to fight for the play-off spot.

The return of former Botswana Football Association (BFA) president, Tebogo Sebego to the club structures has paid handsome dividends and the team now faces the challenge of staying up in the Premiership.

Meanwhile, action in the First Division will only resume after the Easter holiday, as it reaches the business end.
