The 54-year-old was spotted at the BFA’s Lekidi Football Centre on Wednesday morning, where it was confirmed that he was amongst applicants shortlisted for interviews for the vacant TD role.

Letsoaka has been without a job since leaving Bloemfontein Celtics last year and has been linked with the lucrative Kaizer Chiefs head coach’s role.

He led the South African Under-20 side to the World Cup in 2009 and also had a stint with Golden Arrows, Supersport and Free State Stars.

BFA public relations officer, Tumo Mpatane could not divulge much regarding Letsoaka’s presence at Lekidi but confirmed the association had begun the interview process to fill the technical director’s post.

“The job was advertised and we closed on March 9 (2018). We cannot deny that there is a process of finding a candidate best suitable for the role.  We should allow the association to deal and complete the process internally.” “Interviews are being conducted.

All I can say is that the post has attracted world-class people who have shown interest. We are not going to go into detail as this is an internal matter and we will treat it as such,” Mpatane said.

According to sources the TD Job has attracted coaches from as far afield as Europe including France, Germany, Sweden and Serbia.

Former Bafana Bafana head coach, Philippe Troussier has been linked with the job, and was also spotted at Lekidi on Tuesday. Locally, Sonnyboy Sethibe is tipped to land the job, to replace Matshidiso Kowa.
