Miss Teen Universe Botswana to be crowned next month

The reigning queen, Gorata Machobane who recently competed in Nicaragua for the International Miss Teen Universe, will be crowning her successor.
Jackson told Arts & Culture that this year’s queen is expected to represent Botswana at the International Miss Teen Universe in Panama, South America.
“We have 12 girls who will be competition for the crown. We started with auditions in November last year, and we cut to finalists who have been going through rehearsals every Saturday since January,” she said. Jackson said since 2013, they have crowned four queens.
“The first queen Judith Kgwadi won position three (in international competition), second queen Nthabiseng Lebethe could not compete due to visa complications, the third queen Michelle Bagoleng made it to top 16 out of 30 countries, and the fourth queen also made to it to top 16 out of 30 countries.
“I’ll say the competition has grown looking at the number of people attending every year. The girls who compete are more mature teenagers who understand pageantry. The event at its own, stage wise and overall management has improved,” she said.
Jackson highlighted that top 16 is a semi finalist spot that is considered as a huge placement. “You should not go and come without a placement,” she said.
Jackson said considering the fact that the new queen will be crowned under the era of a new president is something to celebrate as both as a new queen and Teen Universe Botswana.
“We have to celebrate with the hope that one day pageantry as classified under arts, will be considered and given the support it deserves” she said.
Teen Universe is an international competition for teenagers from five continents based on the physical beauty of its participants incorporating qualities. Teen Universe is a pageant for teens aged between the 15 and 19 years.
