Vote UDC

  • They are landless when the ruling elite is accumulating a lot of land
  • It will be the last time they are enjoying transparent elections
  • Batlokwa have said no to Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) but the Government is imposing it on them and other Batswana.

This publication cannot claim that everything is normal in this country. Botswana is at crossroads and in total mess. This wonderful country has never been near junk status like we are today.

Our call for Tlokweng voters is to send a clear message to the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) that enough is enough. Batlokwa are directly affected by big powers taking and occupying their land.

To the North, the Khamas are occupying Ruretse and to the South multi-millionaire Derrick Brink owning another chunk. A stone throw away, the rich and famous of the BDP including Satar Dada ‘own’ Notwane farms and Mokolodi. Batlokwa can’t expand from where they are. They can’t own farming land let alone mahulo.

Just recently Batlokwa told the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) that they are against the introduction of the EVMs and their plea fell on deaf ears. In fact Batlokwa told the EVM coordinator that ‘o romiwa boloi’.

Majority of the people at the well-attended kgotla meeting said they were afraid that the ruling party was plotting to steal elections. The 2014 general election results showed that the BDP was on a decline as it failed to gain more than 50% of popular vote.

The IEC figures are there for interpretation that the ruling party is on a serious decline hence Batswana are against the introduction of the compromised EVMs. And some BDP members are also against these controversial machines.

Sir Ketumile Masire reportedly said the BDP should consider its position of the EVMs. Masire is not just a mere Oarabile, Oratile or Oaitse, he is one of the founding fathers of the BDP and former President of Botswana.  Lot of things in this Republic are done to appease the current President.

Take the passed Presidents’ Pension and Retirement Benefits Amendment Bill No. 22 of 2016 as an example. President Ian Khama’s retirement package is daylight robbery from the poor.

No President has been spoilt like Khama before. Batlokwa should tell Khama that they are against his opulent lifestyle while majority of them are wallowing in poverty.

We have never been polarised as we are today as a nation. Unions are at each other’s throat, judiciary is divided, fighting against itself and lost credibility and the media is weak and eunuch.

Not to mention that Parliament has lost its influence because of one Man; Khama. It has become a hopeless institution. The mainstay of the economic has been the mining sector.

It is common cause that it is on its knees. The tourism sector which is the second biggest contributor to the Gross Domestic Product, has been captured by a family.

The President has appointed his younger brother as a gatekeeper. We are in disarray and Batlokwa should rescue the situation by voting for the opposition candidate, Kenneth Masego Segokgo.
