Kealeboga Mogale, who at the time was working for Brinks Global Services, is suspected of masterminding the robbery of a vehicle, which was on its way to the SSIA, as part of a trio of robbers.

Mogale and two others were charged with theft of the cash, which belonged to the Bank of Botswana, but the former detective went on the run after absconding trial and skipping bail.

Yesterday, police spokesperson, Witness Bosija said Mogale had been re-arrested on Tuesday in Tlokweng. He revealed that Mogale was also wanted by Interpol for an armed robbery case involving P4 million committed in South Africa.

“The suspect has been on the run after absconding trial and skipping bail for a case of stealing by servant involving over P2 million.

He is also in the list of wanted persons by the Interpol for an armed robbery case involving P4 million allegedly committed in South Africa.

“He is set to appear in Court here soon,” Bosija said.  Mogale was originally facing two charges of stealing by servant and stealing goods in transit.

The second and third accused, Khumo Monyana (27) and Boiteko Setshwantsho (31) were facing a charge of stealing goods in transit.

Before he disappeared, Magistrate Ephraith Ndegwa had granted the trio bail, ordering them to provide two sureties with a P3,000 bond each.

The Court had further ordered the accused not to interfere with State witnesses and to surrender their travel documents.

They were also ordered to present themselves whenever needed by authorities and to report to a police station weekly.

The Court had heard that only P1.2 million of the P2 million that the trio allegedly stole had been recovered.
