Galaxy, Orapa dominate Top 8 awards nominations

Both sides have each received four nominations. Thabang Sesinyi, Boitumelo Mafoko and Thabang Mosige will battle it out for the Player of the Tournament award. 

Both Sesinyi and Mafoko were instrumental for Galaxy in the final. Mafoko was amongst the goal scorers with two other goals coming from Morris Ruzivo, Tebogo Sembowa and Christopher Musonda. Sesinyi despite not being on the score sheet in the final, terrorised his former teammates with skill and set up Sembowa for the fourth goal. 

Mosige also played an important role and helped Orapa United reach the final. 

Although he ended up on the losing side, thereby failing to defend their crown, he had a good game overall in the final and scored one of the goals.

 Two other goals came from his teammate, Tendai Nyumasi who missed out on the final nomination for the player of the tournament.

BDF XI’s goalkeeper, Basimanebotlhe Moilwa will fight for the goalkeeper of the tournament award with Anthony Gouws (Jwaneng Galaxy) and Kaelo Joseph (Orapa United).

 Joseph, who sat on the bench in the final following the return of first choice goalkeeper, Mosimanegape Robert, played a pivotal role in the latter’s absence.  Gouws also did relatively well until in the final where he committed some blunders, probably due to nervousness.

Orapa United’s exciting midfielder, Nyumasi will share the top goal scorer of the tournament award with BDF XI’s Roger Katjiteo, who each scored four goals. 

Mike Sithole, who helped Galaxy win the tournament has been nominated for the Coach of the Tournament award alongside Madinda Ndlovu of Orapa United and Louis Setshwane of BDF XI.
